Lionel Messi is against the idea of Barcelona signing Chelsea and Belgium superstar Eden Hazard this summer as he doesn’t any more forwards to join the club.
This is according to Don Balon, who state that him and Luis Suarez didn’t want Barcelona signing Antoine Griezmann, and that the Argentine feels the same way about Hazard.
The report also notes that Messi wants the club to sign lesser-known attackers this summer, something that Hazard simply isn’t.
Don Balon have reported earlier this month that Chelsea are after a total of €200M if they are to sell Hazard this summer, a price that can be justified following the winger’s performances at the World Cup in Russia this past month.
Hazard would, obviously, be a great signing for any club in the world, however Barcelona probably don’t need him given the amount of talent they have in their attack.
With stars such as Messi and Suarez themselves, as well as Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and new signing Malcom, the Blaugrana seem more than equipped to go through this season without signing any more attackers.
Signing Hazard wouldn’t be the smartest of moves from Barcelona given the club’s financial situation, so it seems like listening to Messi might be a good idea after all.
