Nigerians Celebrate Wizkid As He Clocks 29

Today has been declared “World Wizkid Day” by Nigerians to celebrate the birthday of Nigerian singer, Ayo Balogun, better known as “Wizkid”.

Wizkid turns 29 today. Born on the 16th of July, 1990 to a family of six, Wizkid started singing at the age of 11 with the stage name “Lil Prinz” after which he formed a group “Glorious five.”

In 2006, he changed his name from “Lil Prinz” to Wizkid leading to his first chance at the spotlight in 2009 when he featured on M. Abaga’s song “Fast Cars”.

That song brought his voice to the notice of Nigerian singer, Banky W, who signed him to his record label.

As the singer turns 29 today, Nigerians have taken to their various social media accounts to celebrate the singer and his achievements over the years.

Tweeting with the hashtag, “WorldWizkidDay,” many Nigerians congratulated the singer.

“When I am sad, your music is my happiness, when I am lost, your music is my comforter. Thank you for blessing our generation,” a Twitter user, JeeziMillion, wrote.

Another Twitter user, Stevydomiles, wrote: “Nobody does it badder than you Ayo, the undisputed King of Afropop. Thanks for all the good music, you keep inspiring me.”

“Happy birthday baby!” Imadey, another Twitter user, wrote while wishing the singer a happy birthday.

R Kelly Still A Danger To Young Girls -Prosecutor

A judge in the United States of America has ordered R Kelly to remain behind bars without bail after a prosecutor claimed the singer would still pose a danger to young girls if he was set free.

Speaking in court on Tuesday, assistant US attorney Angel Krull told district judge Harry Leinenweber: “If he was attracted to middle school girls in 1999 then he’s still attracted to middle school girls.

“That’s who the defendant is and that, your honour, makes him a danger today.

“Electronic monitoring can’t stop obstruction of justice, witness tampering.”

She added: “He can entice victims to his own home.”

Mr. Leinenweber said Kelly would have to prove that he was not a danger to the public under federal law and that Kelly’s lawyer had failed to do this.

The R&B singer was arrested in Chicago last week while out walking his dog and faces a number of sex-related charges in the city, and in New York – which he denied, News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The final season of “Game of Thrones” smashed the record for most Primetime Emmy nominations by a drama series in a single year, earning a whopping 32 nods Tuesday.

“Thrones” was already the most decorated fictional show in the awards’ seven-decade history, and now has 161 nominations, according to the Television Academy website.

HBO’s acclaimed drama “Chernobyl” placed third with 19, ahead of perennial Emmys powerhouse “Saturday Night Live” on 18.

The Television Academy’s 24,000 members sifted through a record number of entries for this year’s Emmys.

BBNaija Is Satanic, Says Muslim Group, Urges Christians To Join In Condemning Reality Show

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the federal government to immediately place a ban on the Big Brother Naija show.

MURIC posited that the reality show promotes immorality in the country branding it as ‘immoral, dangerous and Bohemian’.

Professor Ishaq Akintola, Director of MURIC also said the promoter of the show must be held accountable for promoting immorality in the country

“We are being forcibly dragged to a world of nudity, shamelessness and open promiscuity. Inmates of BBNaija kiss, romance and engage in sex openly. BBNaija is Bohemian, anti-social, crude and immoral. It constitutes a potent danger to every home. BBNaija is Satanic. It is unacceptable.

“Where are our norms and values? Is it part of African culture to engage in sex in the open? Where are the authorities? Is the Ministry of Information and Culture sleeping? Is the National Orientation Agency on sabbatical? Who will protect our children from this despicable onslaught? Who did this to Nigeria?

“This reality show is dragging our children into a life of moral debauchery. It is robbing them of the last vestiges of honour. It is deleting the word ‘shame’ from their vocabulary. BB Naija has alienated our youth from the elders. A yawning lacuna now exists between the young and the old. Irreversible social crisis looms.

“We must see those who woo our young ones with humongous amounts of money, big cars, and palatial buildings as those bent on destroying industry, diligence, and integrity, particularly among the youth. Nothing destroys a nation faster than materialism. The daughters of Jezebel are here already. Unless the authorities move with the speed of lightning, human dignity in Nigeria is going, going, going!

“Or do we not realize that for every single BB Naija inmate who wins a big amount of money and a car, more than 50 million young people are misled? Qur’an 30:41 says, ‘Evil has appeared on both land and sea as a result of the handiworks of men…’  The Bible in Ephesians 4:19 was also describing these people when it says, ‘Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.’”

MURIC calls for unity among the Christians and Muslims in the country to jointly condemn and force the government to place a ban on the reality show.

“We can put an end to this anomaly called BB Naija if Christians and Muslims bury the hatchet and come together to fight evil. Home is home. Moral debauchery knows no religion. The destructive influence of television shows like BB Naija penetrates both Christian and Muslim homes.

“Ditto for the custodians of our culture and tradition. Our traditional rulers ignore a program like this, which has all the potentials to diminish the dignity of our culture. They are fighting over who should be chairman of the council of traditional rulers. They want to be the king of kings and rivals of the supreme creator. Who placed a curse on Nigeria?

“Homo sapiens may not respect a single snake when they see one. But can anyone wait to see what follows if the cobra leads and it is faithfully followed by the python, the black mamba, rattlesnake, garter snake, and the anaconda? So what do you think will happen if our traditional rulers from the East, West and North march on Aso Rock to demand the immediate halt of this horrible show?”

MURIC charged the Ministry of Information and Culture to move swiftly against BB Naija before moral debauchery becomes Nigeria’s middle name.

Sex Toy Shop Attack Disgusting, Disgraceful, Say Davido, Banky W, Waje

Since news broke of Senator Elias Abbo assaulting a woman in a sex toy shop, Nigerians have taken to the social media asking him to step down.

Among them are celebrities like Davido, Banky W, Waje, Toke Makinwa and a host of others.

In a post on his Instagram story, singer Davido said, “This is absolutely disgusting! Say no to abuse of power! This is so hard to watch!”

Banky W in his reaction wrote: “I’ve been saying that we need to pay attention to who we let into our National Assembly. Now we have CCTV footage of a SITTING SENATOR physically assaulting a woman in an adult toy store in Abuja, IN THE PRESENCE OF A POLICE OFFICER. Her only “crime” was saying “Oga, take it easy” when he got aggressive with her female store owner friend.

“For that, he slapped her multiple times, and then made his policemen arrest her. This is an absolute disgrace. Pls repost and share until our Police force agree to #ArrestSenatorElishaAbbo – he must face the full wrath of the law.

“This is what happens when we don’t pay attention to the people we let into our leadership roles. This is what happens when we have a culture that subconsciously treats our women as second class citizens. We have a lot to unlearn as a country.. about how we select/allow leaders AND about the way we treat our women. We must do better. We must be better.”

Nigerian singing sensation, Waje, also bared her mind saying, “Speechless! A senator who should uphold the law is the one caught on camera assaulting a woman (who btw is a nursing mother). Her only crime was saying “Oga take it easy” and IN THE PRESENCE OF A POLICE OFFICER. Pls repost and share until our Police force agree to #ArrestSenatorElishaAbbo – he must face the full wrath of the law.”

Kaffy Slams Naira Marley Over ‘Masturbation’ Dance

Nigerian dancer, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, better known as Kaffy, has taken to Instagram to slam Nigerian artiste, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, for his new dance moves depicting masturbation.

Naira Marley recently released a new song, “Soapy”, which according to him was inspired by his experience in prison where inmates masturbate to satisfy their sexual urge.

In the video, a dancer moves his or her legs while holding their hands close to his penis mimicking the act of masturbation.

“Say no to rape, say yes to soapy,” was Naira Marley’s reaction when he began to get backlash for the song.

However, in a post on her Instagram page, Kaffy said she was disappointed by the artiste’s “immoral dance”.

Her post read, “Am sorry but i can’t take this in the history of Naija dance i have never seen a more disgusting immoral dance like the so called Soapy. It should never be encouraged. Am really disappointed.”

Her caption under the picture read: “This is a No. #myopinion.”

She stated, “As dancers we should also speak for what is right we shouldn’t encourage this for the sake of trend. Especially when it’s not even censored for kids; for an adult sef it’s offensive.”

Former dancer with Psquare, Don Flex, showed support for Kaffy’s option saying: “I totally concur with you, the signatory dance illustration is immorally disheartening and improper for commercial viewership and yet alone not safe for young viewership as well.”

Also comedienne, Lolo, in her comment wondered why “common sense” will be destroyed.

She said: “I loved you before I love you more now ..is it that we do not want this generation to thrive? why would we just destroy commonsense.”
