Mr Kunle Ayodele, the proprietor of Excellent Nursery and Primary School, Ilorin, says consistent strike by teachers can ruin the educational system in the country.
Ayodele, who made the assertion in Ilorin on Saturday in an interview with newsmen, described strike as a ‘poison to education’.
He said strike had become a norm in the education system in the country and must be erased to safe education.
“Nigeria education system lacks consistency due to consistent strike.
“Our education is in danger of collapse if we allow strikes on daily basis.
“Government and educational stakeholders must wake up and save education from collapse.
“We need to invest on education and avoid strike in Nigerian schools.
“Students spend most of their precious time in their parents’ houses all in the name of strike.
“Some schools even see strike as a normal thing.
“The future of Nigerian students is at stake if we see strike as a normal thing.
“That is why most parents that can afford sending their children abroad to study do not hesitate to do so.
“Let us stop celebrating strikes and take our education to the next level.
“Strikes can ruin education and cause setback for students,” he said.
The proprietor however advised government at all levels to prioritise teachers’ welfare and invest strategically in the sector.
